Here's a bit of business to attend: I was wrong. The Features performed at the Mercy Lounge last Friday as celebration for their new EP Contrast. The actual CD release was Mon., Sept. 18 at Grimey's. I'm sorry about the confusion. You can order the new Features disc at www.thefeatures.com for $6. When I have more information, I will pass it on to you.
It seems as though the past week has been pretty quiet, not in terms of shows or events, but just quiet in general. Murfreesboro will definitely be busy in the coming weeks leading into Halloween. A couple of CD release parties, Grand Palace's one-year anniversary, fall blockbuster films, plays and Monday Night Football are just some of the things coming up that I can remember.
In case you didn't know, Grand Palace has begun posting podcasts on MySpace. Sept. 19 was their first episode and featured tunes from The Features, Catfish Haven, My Morning Jacket and Dead Meadow, among other artists.
Speaking of podcasts, the new iPod Nano commercial is all over television. According to the Apple homepage, the "completely remastered" Nano has "A thinner design. Five stylish colors. A brighter display. Up to 24 hours of battery life." It also has a 40% brighter display. In the commercial, the iPod literally glows as proof for the brighter display, but it doesn't glow like that in real life. I understand this is a big deal, but the marketing is just ridiculous sometimes. But we will never say this marketing scheme is not effective.
I heard about a new Mediterranean restaurant on Middle Tennessee Blvd., in the former Marina's location. If you know anything about it or have eaten there, tell me about it.
As always, if you have an event, hot tip or a gripe, let Exposure know at slflash@mtsu.edu. Next week's issue includes the Old Salem Insane Asylum haunted house and The Incredible Heat Machine's CD release party.
