First Lady visits Nashville to raise election funds
She will be the featured guest at a fundraising luncheon held at The Pinnacle at Symphony Place in downtown Nashville, eleven in the morning April 17. Tickets start at $200.
The money raised will go to the Obama Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee for President Barak Obama’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee. According to an article in The Tennessean, the Obama campaign will also use the money raised here to compete in battleground states around the country.
Michele Obama helped campaign for her husband’s 2008 presidential campaign, and presented a keynote address at the 2008 Democratic National Convention as well.
Michele’s last visit to Nashville was during her husband’s first campaign, during which she attended another fundraiser.
Mrs. Obama was raised on the South Side of Chicago and attended Princeton University and Harvard Law School. Later, she returned to Chicago to work at the Sidney Austin law firm where she met her husband. She worked as part staff of Chicago mayor Richard M. Daley, and for the University of Chicago Medical Center.
