An MTSU student died in Dyersburg, Tenn. Friday after receiving multiple gunshot wounds last month.
Seth Moss, 19, had been in critical condition at the Med in Memphis since he was shot during the early morning hours at a party last month, according to The State Gazette.
Moss, an undeclared freshman and Dyersburg native, was home for the summer when the incident occurred. He was attending MTSU on scholarship and planned to study forensic science in graduate school.
His mother, Robbi Diane Moss, told The State Gazette she appreciated how the community has supported the family in its time of need.
"There wasn't anybody who didn't like him," his mother said. "He would always make you laugh."
Moss got into an argument with Heath Rogers, 22, at a June 30 party when Rogers accused him of stealing his stereo from his vehicle, according to the arrest report. This lead to a fight, which was broken up, and Rogers left the party.
Rogers returned later, and Moss was shot. There were no witnesses to the shooting. Moss was taken to Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, and then airlifted to the Med.
Rogers was charged with aggravated assault for the shooting and released on a $25,000 bond the day of the incident, according to The State Gazette. Before his death, Moss was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest.
Rogers is scheduled to appear before the Dyer County grand jury on Aug. 8.
Funeral services for Moss were held in Dyersburg yesterday.
