From the heavily publicized eHarmony.com to the ever-popular Match.com, there are hundreds of online dating services available today for the average single person.
But a brand-new dating Web site, RedneckAndSingle.com, is geared toward a more specific audience.
"The whole idea of RedneckAndSingle.com was to create an online dating environment just for very down-to-earth people with interests like country music, NASCAR and camping," says Kevin, the site's creator. "Think of it as an online honky-tonk."
The site has already garnered a lot of interest from the public, receiving approximately 1,600 visitors in its first few weeks in operation, and 50 people have posted personal profiles on the site.
"For the people who are joining, I'm seeing a lot of enthusiasm about the site," Kevin said. "You don't have to be a banjo-strummin', tobacco-spittin', cowboy boots-wearin' person to feel comfortable at RedneckAndSingle.com," Kevin says.
Students see the site as a positive creation.
"I think it sounds like a fun idea, or at least a very entertaining one," MTSU student Greg Harris says.
"It targets a specific group of people, and it sounds like it would be directed specifically at their interests," sophomore Kenny Barrett says.
"RedneckAndSingle.com was born out of my desire as a marketing guy to create a consumer brand of my very own, and out my frustrations as a single guy with the online dating sites that are out there now," Kevin says.
Kevin encourages all interested persons to check out his site.
"I'd urge anyone who's single to check out the site and take the Redneck Personality Profile," he says. "It's a real hoot."
"A lot of people may be thinking, 'No way; I'm not a redneck.' But once they take the profile and see their interests are mud fightin' and four-wheelin', they're going to see that rednecks are having more fun than most people," Kevin says.
"One thing I've learned during my years as a single guy is that you need to explore your options," Kevin says. "So if you're a woman wondering what it would be like to go out with a cowboy, or if you're a guy who'd like to meet a down-to-earth woman who enjoys wearing her Daisy Dukes, then I think RedneckAndSingle.com is an option definitely worth exploring."
