There are three popular items that college students turn to for consumption: beer, pizza and coffee.

These three have been trusted by the college students for decades, as ways to combat boredom and create social atmospheres. Many gatherings have at least one item present.

BEER

It may save students to buy beer during the weekly grocery shopping; however, gas stations have occasional specials that can save in the long run.

This essential may take consideration and planning, or else it may interfere with school.

Prices at a grocery store

Miller High Life: $3.87 6 pk bottle
Natural Light: $6.64 for a 12 pack cans
Corona: $17.14 12 pk bottle
Michelob: $10.17 12 pk bottle

Prices at a gas station
Miller High Life: $4.39 6 pk bottle
Natural Light: $7.29 12 pk cans
Corona: $13.99 12pk (summer special)
Michelob/Rolling Rock: $10.49 12 pk

PIZZA

Pizza normally comes cheaper if it's purchased at a grocery store, but along with that comes the hassle of going out and buying it, then cooking it in the oven. Pizza places are more expensive, but they do run specials and offer free delivery. Plus, they actually know how to cook pizza and won't burn it.

Prices at the grocery store:

Totino's Crisp Crust (any topping) $0.98
DiGiorno (any topping) $4.98

*There are, of course, numerous other brands of pizza at any grocery store, and most of them can be found for less than $5 per pizza.

Prices at a pizza joint:

Pizza Hut: special - order one specialty pizza (for $16.29) get a 1 topping medium for $0.99. *

Domino's: $9.99 special with delivery - 1 medium philly cheese steak or 1 large 1 topping Brooklyn style. *

Mellow Mushroom: $11.15 for a 1 topping medium pizza or $14 for a 1 topping large pizza.

*These prices are subject to promotions and may not always be available.

COFFEE

Students may turn to coffee or other caffeinated beverages to combat weariness due to having to get up for 8 a.m. classes or a late night out.

But the 100 plus degree weather may have students opting for a cooler drink, such as an iced coffee. This usually costs more than a regular cup of joe, but it may be worth it.

Prices at a shop:

Burger King: $1.99 for a Mocha BK Joe
Starbuck's: iced beverages starting at $2.69

There are also various coffee places on campus.
