MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) _ The state Board of Funeral Directors and Embalmers has fined Shelby County Commissioner Joe Ford $1,000 and his funeral home an additional $1,000 for allowing photographs to be taken at the business.
The photos were taken by blogger Thaddeus Matthews of the body of 22-year-old Shindri Roberson, one of six people found fatally shot or beaten to death at a Memphis residence March 3.
The board Tuesday cited Ford for not properly securing the room containing the bodies.
The combined $2,000 fine is the maximum allowed. It came as a result of three complaints filed with the funeral board, one from Roberson's family and two from board staff members.
